What is Indian head massage?Indian head massage is a gentle therapy which has been practised in India for over a thousand years.
The Indian head massage I practise is also known as champissage. It was developed and brought to the Western world by Narendra Mehta and is unique in the way that it incorporates an Ayurvedic* element to it; it combines the physical massaging of the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck, scalp and ears with the balancing of a person's three higher energy centres or chakras.
* Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical system which places 'an emphasis on balance and the uniqueness of a person.'- INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE, Narendra Mehta, ISBN 0-7225-3940-1
