What is Indian head massage?
Indian head massage is a gentle therapy which has been practised in India for over a thousand years.
The Indian head massage I practise is also known as champissage. It was developed and brought to the Western world by Narendra Mehta and is unique in the way that it incorporates an Ayurvedic* element to it; it combines the physical massaging of the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck, scalp and ears with the balancing of a person’s three higher energy centres or chakras.
* Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical system which places ‘an emphasis on balance and the uniqueness of a person.’- INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE, Narendra Mehta, ISBN 0-7225-3940-1
Who can benefit from having an Indian head massage?
Most people can benefit from an Indian head massage because it is a technique which aims to relieve physical tension and encourage emotional well-being by promoting relaxation.
What will happen during a treatment?
On the first visit, I shall ask you a variety of questions on your present and past health and your lifestyle.
Then, I shall ask you to remove any neck-chains or earrings and sit down in an upright chair where I shall proceed with the treatment.
The massage is non-intrusive in the sense that it does not involve any use of cream or oils and that you remain fully clothed.
How much will it cost?
One treatment costs £45.
A course of six treatments, which can be taken over a period of a year, costs £228 (£38 per treatment. You save £42).
How many treatments will you need?
This will be discussed at the end of your first treatment and will be dependent on your needs.
